"To the Core: The Many Layers of Stripping Paint," another in the Newburyport Preservation Trust's "Do It Ye Self" series, will be held Saturday, September 10, 1:00-3:15 p.m., at the Perkins Mint building (Museum of Old Newbury) on Fruit Street, Newburyport.

In the latest in NPT's popular series, restoration carpenter Benjamin Twombly shares his years of knowledge and experience tackling the delicate task of removing paint. Ben will first present an overview of the common paint removal challenges attendees might face in their homes, and then welcome questions about specific situations. A demonstration follows that illustrates a number of options for the do-it-yourself homeowner. Whether the paint removal project is a large exterior expanse or a detailed piece of interior moulding, Ben has seen it all, and can guide homeowners to complete projects successfully without compromising the character of their home.

The cost is just $15 per person for NPT members, and $20 per person for non-members. Registration (online only) is limited to 25 attendees.
